An exceptional Jamacoaque shaman from Ecuador, ca. 300 BC – 400 AD. He is 5-1/2” high, posed standing and is depicted in a transformation ritual. He is wearing a mask, which reveals his bulging eyes and ornament-studded nose and a tail is projecting from his rear. Great paint, good mineral deposits, minor repair.

An adorable Vicus double-chambered vessel from Peru, ca. 200 BC – 200 AD. This fine redware example is 9-1/2” long, 5-1/2” high and is decorated with a mythical monkey deity modeled atop the front chamber. An unusual example, with strong mineral deposits.

A large Nazca polychrome bowl from Peru, ca. 200 – 400 AD. This gorgeous example is 7-1/4” in diameter and is decorated with six panels of colorful cactus designs (probably San Pedro) painted against a red background. In excellent condition, with good mineral deposits.

Jaina Island, Yucatan, Mexico. Ca. 500-800 A.D. A fine, hollow molded pottery, standing figure having a animal-headed baby, and ceremonial facial scarification around her mouth and chin. Wearing small eardiscs and necklace. Whistle incorporated into the rear base. Some minor repairs, otherwise intact. An elegant example. 22,8 x 11 cm. Provenance: Private Barcelona collection, bought in the 1970's from Primitive Art Gallery, S.A. published in the gallery catalog.

This is a fine, ancient Peruvian Chancay (circa 1350 AD) wooden weaver's tool. Depicted in the carving of this piece is an anthropomorphic figure. See photos.

Condition: This piece was used extensively in ancient times. As such, the wood has good polish to it, and appears to have suffered the loss of one end.
