A lovely Chancay textile from Peru, ca. 1100 – 1450 AD. This is a complete shirt for an adolescent or female and measures 14” long and 12” wide. It is made from brown and tan striped cloth, with a green center stripe. Overall in excellent condition, with signs of wear and light staining. Beautifully framed and ready to hang.

This 22” necklace (PBF201) is made up of assorted Pre-Columbian ceramic, shell, greenstone and gold beads, all found in the Narino area of Colombia during the mid-20th century and dating into the Capuli Period, c.900-1400AD. Positioned at its center is a 1” tall greenstone pendant that represents an anthropomorphic figure kneeling in a position of prayer or obeisance. A nice, framed example of a Pre-Columbian textile fragment from ancient Peru, pre-1500 A.D. Measuring approximately 7 1/2" X 1 1/2" (item alone) and 11 1/2" X 6" (including the frame), this piece depicts 4 birds in black, red, yellow, and brown, as well as bands of colors, including a rare blue. Upon close inspection, complex weaving patterns, using different color-dyed threads, are visible, exemplifying the sophistication of Pre-Columbian Peruvian weavers. A rare Chimu woodcarving from Peru, ca. 1100 – 1450 AD. The piece is 7” long and is completely covered with carved fish, birds and feline heads. It is hollow, drilled from both sides and shows signs of extensive usage, most likely as the handle of a ceremonial object. Great find!
