A rare Chancay calero (lime container) from Peru, ca. 1100 – 1450 AD. This rare intact example is made from a gourd and is 7" long. It has a wood dipper carved with a human head and is still filled with ground lime. In perfect condition. A great find for paraphernalia collectors.

This almost perfect Pre-Columbian polychrome basket (LFG412) is attributed to the Tiahuanacan Period of highland Bolivia, c.400-1200AD. Measuring 6” across, and approximately 3 ½” in height, the four top coils down from the basket’s rim are woven with two different alternating colors of reed in a fashion that defines a simple geometric pattern around the upper part of the body. This is a matched set. These two, ancient copper tupi spoons were used by a Moche (100 BC - 100 AD) coca chewer. They were used as spoons, for cutting small quantities of lime for ingestion with the coca, to even the bitterness of the flavour of the coca, and it's believed that the lime acted as something of a catalyst for the effectiveness of the drug.
