An interesting Pre-Columbian miniature blood offering olla from Jalisco, Mexico, circa 200 A.D. - 400 A.D. Measuring approximately 1 1/8" tall by 1 3/8" wide, this nicely-formed miniature olla is made of buff terra-cotta and features three pointed lugs, each perforated for suspension. Examples of these diminutive ollas are found in the ancient bed area of Lake Chapala (a remnant of Lake Jalisco near modern-day Guadalajara, Mexico), and are unique to this location.... An early Moche III figural vessel from Peru, ca. 200 AD. It is 8-1/4" high and depicts a shamanic scene with five merged faces. The top of the chamber is decorated with serpent and bird designs, executed in orange and purple (rare). The base is decorated with repetitive designs related to fertility and the Underworld. Overall in excellent condition, with just minor pigment deterioration.

Extremely well preserved Vicus orangeware pottery figural vessel, depicting a bound and kneeling prisoner. Has a small rear spout and bridge handle with mineral deposits on much of the surfaces. Has black negative resist geometric body decoration. The face has the typical hook nose and oval eyes. Dates to circa 100 BC and measures 8.75 inches in height. The Vicus is from a region of Northern Peru and is still shrouded in mystery! Ancient Art from the Vicus culture is very rare.

This lovely example of a rare motif is 7-1/2" high and is painted with a series of abstract phytomorphic designs called “Flowering Staffs”, as well as bands of interwoven linear designs.
