Rare Ancient Egyptian faience figure of an ithyphallic man, in seated position and carrying the lower part of his large phallus on his shoulders. Turquoise green color glaze. Ptolemaic Period: circa 330 – 30 BC. Height: 6.1 cm. Base measures 4 x 4.2 cm. One corner of the base is missing, otherwise in wonderful intact condition. Minor surface damage in places. Purchased on the German art market.

This is an Egyptian wood burial figure known as an ushabti. It is 7 1/2” high and dates to XIX-XX dynasty, 1320-1085BC. These were buried with a person in the expectation that they would serve the deceased in the afterlife and are sometimes known as “servant figures”. This one was purchased at Phillips in London about 30 year ago. A fine bronze sceptre finial depicting an enthroned goddess with arms alongside her body, feet together with defined toes and wearing an incised tripartite wig. Late Period, 600 B.C. 4 7/8 inches high. Mounted. From a French collection. Complete sceptres were used by priests for ceremonial purposes.
