This is one of the arrest of Viking beads from Viking England, the area now known as York. It parallels exactly an example found during the extensive archaeological excavations which took place 25-35 years ago. We will provide specifics of that example with the bead. This is an antique Russian lathe turned Wood cup. It is 3 1/2" high. It is a rare example from the 19th-century demonstrating a specifically Russian form of decoration. It is painted ware with indigenous pigments and traditional motifs. Conditions as shown. This one of two examples which we are offering on eBay right now.
