This is an historically intriguing bronze statue of the child, Hercules strangling snakes which were intended to assassinate him. The story goes: Hercules' mother was Alcmena, wife of King Amphitryon of Troezen. His father, Zeus, king of the gods, disguised himself as Amphitryon and visited Alcmena on a night which lasted as long as three ordinary nights. Zeus' wife, Hera, was furious when she learned Alcmena was pregnant with a child of Zeus. In her anger, Hera sent witches to Troezen to stop A... Click for details

Ancient Greek, circa 500-200 B.C. We ascribe this to be an armlet - to be worn on the upper arm - rather than as a more common bracelet; the size at almost 3", 74mm in diamater would indicate this (people were smaller then); also, the bronze itself is thinner and more flexible than usually found in bracelets. Wearable. Certificate of Authenticity by request. Member A.A.C.A., and others.
