Greco-Roman, c.2nd Century BC - 1st Century AD. An Egyptian copy of a late Greek or early Roman amphora of typical form with tapering body, large mouth and two large handles. Very well crafted with a linear addition in red pigment. Intact and on custom stand.
H: 33".
A rare example for the amphora collector.

A moulded terracotta semi-circular architectural antefix fragment decorated with a stylised palmette. Traces of black and white pigment decoration are clearly visible.
This architectural revetment would have been attached at the lower end of a line of roof tiles so as to break the fall of rain water and channel it into a guttering system. These palmettes would have been mounted in a continuous line around the entire roof of a major building.

A Corinthian aryballos painted with a lotus bud motif. Aryballoi are often pictured on vases as part of the equipment of athletes. Aryballoi most likely contained the oil with which they cleaned their bodies, applying the oil and scraping it off with a strigil. Circa 550 BCE. Ht. 2 1/8th inches [5.3 CM], dia 2 1/16th inches [5.2 CM]. Intact with paint losses as shown.

Apulian guttus ornamented with an archaic fashioned lion on the medallion. The short head is emerging from a mane formed by four folds of overlaid hair. The feline is about to jump up.

The medallion decorated with the head of a satyr with wild locks and curled heavy beard. The face shows a fleshy nose, full lips and wide open eyes topped by marked eyebrows. The bold head with fine floccus. Goat-like ears.
The head is from the same mold as inv. no. 20187 in the Bari Archaeological Museum, cf. fig. no. 81 (T84) in: Fernando Gilotta. Gutti e askoi a rilievo italioti ed etruschi. Roma 1985.

Peculiar variant of an Attic white ground lekythos. The white ground has been only applied on the upper section, just to the level on the checkerboard pattern on the frieze. The net pattern appears on the very smooth ceramic surface.
Greek, Athens, 500-475 BC.
19.8 cm (7.8 in).
Foot and neck are reattached, traces of a fingerprint on the neck. Surface on the left chipped in places, otherwise excellent condition.

Superb quality. Few fragments reattached. Face of one youth chipped.
