UK Pounds - £325 

A moulded pottery vessel in the form of a duck. The majority of the surface would originally have been covered in black glaze and the finely moulded details were enlivened by extensive incised decoration. The shape of the rim would suggest that this vessel was used to contain scented oils and as various birds were regarded as love-tokens it is likely that this duck was offered as a lover's gift with a practical use as well as a symbolic meaning.
