Sizeable standing figure of a woman, both arms bent in front, supporting her breasts, veil covering her head, long tunic tied with a girdle. Her long hair, falling on her shoulders. Her oval face with almond shaped eyes, protruding nose and lips. Wearing necklaces and pendant on chest. 12 1/2 inches high. Repaired. Mounted. Late 6th Century B.C. A hollow moulded pottery figure of a standing goddess. The goddess wears a tall round hat, sometimes associated with Demeter. Around her chest are two necklaces composed of droplet type pendants. At the bottom of her long robe, her feet can be seen, standing on a low pedestal. Greece, late 6th or early 5th Century BC. Repaired rather clumsily to the neck. Encrusted. Very Rare Hellenistic Sculpture of a pregnant Lady "Fertility Goddess" 300-100 BC - This superb statue has been, until recently, displayed at The Museum of Biblical Archaelogy, Columbus Ohio. It stands 140mm high (160mm including plexiglass base)and is 45mm wide at the largest section. The staue itself is in magnificent condition and has had no restoration or repair.
