An excellent Kushan (Ghandharan) stone cosmetics dish from the Indus Valley, ca.100 – 300 AD. This lovely example measures 4” x 2-1/2”, is carved from greenish chlorite and features a nicely detailed lion facing the hollow tray portion. The underside is decorated with a floral pattern. Rare type.

Ghandara stucco head of Buddha with elegant featured visage. The heavy lidded eyes below arched brows, an aquiline nose and bow shaped mouth. The spotted hairdo is gathered in a topknot. Pakistan, Gandhara style, 3rd century AD. H. 13.7 cm (5.4 in), H. with stand 19.5 cm (7.66 in). Superb modeling. Broken at the neck level. Surface pitted in places. Very expressive and of excellent quality. Ex German art market.

A coronation commemorative Russian Imperial enamelled cup, made to celebrate the coronation of Nicholas II and Alexandra Feodorovna. The initials are the royal couple's cyphers, and on the opposite side is an imperial double eagle. Often referred to as the "Cup of Sorrows" or blood cup. Embossed disk with a central protrusion surrounded by a chain of buds. Small chiseled flowers in the field. Luristan, 8th-7th Century BC. H. 23 cm (9 in), W. disk 9.7 cm (3.8 in). A cornelian carved stamp seal decorated with a stylised Zoroastrian fire altar. The sacred fire altar is depicted by a body of flames rising above a flat pedestal. Iran, Sasanian Empire, c. 4th or 5th Century AD Size: 1.3 x 0.8 cms. A small surface chip from the left side of the seal surface otherwise in good condition. Ex.
