A small footed cloisonné dish with open centre. I am puzzled as to the use of this item so if anybody knows please enlighten me. I believe it to be Chinese in origin. The quality of the enamelling is very good suggesting a 19th Century date for its production. The pale blue background is covered with a host of Taoist symbols. This small snuff bottle is from the late 19th or early 20th Century. Originating from China it depicts tree peonies on a yellow background containing stylized clouds. The rims and spoon are gilded as also appears to be the interior. There is no damage to the enamel only the pitting normally found on pieces of this age. Details: An excellent example of a 16th century Ming dynasty deep cloisonne bowl. The piece has a raised foot and has a gently flaring rim. The exterior is decorated with coloured enamels of lotus flowerheads and scrolling foliage on a turquoise ground. The interior is decorated with an unusual fish motif medallion surrounded by various bands of colour.
