Once used as meditation benches, these are now great as coffee tables or side tables. Made of cypress wood in Northern China and in excellent condition. "Four-side-flat" feature makes the pair look very modern as well. The tops are single planks. The pair dates back to Mid-Qing Dynasty between 18th and 19th century.
The width of each is 24.4 inches,24.4 inches in depth and 20 inches in height.

Birds and flowers carved in relief and highlighted with gilt decorate the doors on this 19th century elm wood makeup box that originated in Fujian Province. A mirror, concealed under the folding lid, is framed in red and encircled with a gilt-touched carving of flowers around a scalloped interior frame. A wonderful, very old Chinese daybed, the legs and frame fashioned from elm, the top surface inset with woven rattan and raised on square legs with inturned, horse hoof feet. This low bench with four drawers was used by a street barber in 19th century China as a portable stool for his customers, to carry his tools and as a money box.
