Colorful and quirky glass bangle fragments drilled and reworked into beads (two strands). These seem to have traveled far and wide. The strand without the small beads I bought in HK about 5 years ago and the other was purchased in Bangkok at about the same time. These originally came from Iran circa 6th CE - 7th CE which would make them late Sassanian Empire or early Islamic Era. I suspect these were brought in by Afghan traders who regularly make the rounds in Asia selling their beads... Click for details

19th century black colored Peking glass beaker with flaring rim. Pretty elegant piece in very good condition, very pleasant feel to the surface, expected wear to the foot. Height 2 5/8 inches, diameter at the top 3 3/16 inches.

Very rare brown glass tube bead, circa 3rd BCE Late Warring States, the stratified raised “eyes” on this piece have worn off long ago. Very unusual and rare beautiful five lobed bead from China. There is very little written up on Chinese glass and beads in English. The vendor I purchased this from claimed it to be Liao (907 CE – 1125) and was originally sourced from North Eastern China. There are a few anomalies with this piece in that for the most part, most Chinese glass items tended to be opaque in nature until the Ming and Qing Dynasties, while this bead has a translucence where one can see the swirls of white deep inside....
