DESCRIPTION: A large, museum quality Mongolian lidded wine pot with jade medallions and semi-precious inlays of coral, turquoise and lapis lazuli. The pot’s ovoid silver repousse body is formed in the shape of a fantastic archaistic lion/dog with curly mane and tail, a fierce toothy grin, and a spout arching from the top of its head. A VERY FINE NEOLITHIC JADE CONG; LIANGZHU CULTURE (circa 2500 BC) of a general type found in present day southern Jiangsu and northern Zhejiang provinces. A blackish nephrite jade cong with slightly concave sides and extremely fine incised decoration more typical of the small and very precisely worked cong found in Zhejiang province.
