This 19th Century Shoushan Stone (soapstone) carving measures 6 1/4 inches (15.5 cm) tall by 3 inches (7 cm) wide by 2 inches (5 cm) in depth.
Although Ming in style and motif, it most likely dates to the Middle to late 19th Century (Ching Dynasty) instead.
It is in excellent condition except for a few extremely minor scuffs along a couple of edges.
The subject is an elephant astride a pedestal with low relief Chinese horses carved into shields on each of the four sides.

A finely detailed image of a carp, symbol of long life, forms the body of this curving jade pendant, suitable for wearing as a necklace suspended from gold chains or for mounting on a box or other object. Many attributes of power are ascribed to the carp in Chinese lore, and he was considered the one creature that could evolve into a dragon. The jade is of an even light-green color and is exquisitely carved on both sides. Chinese, Eighteenth Century, approximately 4-1/2 by 1-1/2 inches.

This is a fun jade archer's ring from the Chinese Ch'ing (Qing) dynasty mid to late 18th century. Pretty high quality jade of a slightly greenish hue a trace of mottling not dyed or treated. And it has translucency as you might surmise from the picures. There is an incised design of a pair of facing carp, seem quite happy enjoying themselves amidst the aquatic plants. As a bonus someone added a silver wire loop to use it like a pendant if you wish a piece of old jewelry! If you are a purist ... Click for details
