Very lovely and subtle Ming Dynasty copper tray with engraved deer, prunus, lingzhi and rockery motif. Excellent patina, which must be handled and observed up close to be really appreciated. The shape reflects the Song and Yuan tastes in lacquer and ceramics while the design has the characteristics of the Ming in its tasteful simplicity. This is another antique Chinese painting, of the perenial favorite peonies. The blossoms and leaves are floating in the breeze. Clearly painted by a master of floral painting. Image 17 by 28 inches in a silk matt and a 23 by 34 simple gold frame. Condition is good with a couple of tiny worm holes. It has been cleaned up some time ago before being put under glass.
