Chinese Yuan to Ming dynasty high-shouldered short-necked porcelain vase tapering to a slightly splayed unglazed smooth flat base covered in a gray glaze with horizontal striations. A luting line is evident in the glazed interior. Circa 14th/15th century. Measures nearly 4 ¼” high x 3 ¾” diameter; mouth 2 ¼” diameter. Very good overall condition. An outstanding matched pair of Xianfeng vases with the underglaze blue Imperial mark which reads “Great Qing Xianfeng Period Made” and dates circa 1850-1861, one of the shortest periods in the Qing Dynasty. Each vase has 3 panels or medallions with court scenes on the front; the same motif is repeated on the back side.
