A Fine Large Chinese Famille-verte Porcelain Stand. Kangxi Period. Late 17th.c.

Ht. 9 3/4 ins (24.8 cms). Diameter 10 ins. (25.4 cms). This fine piece of famille verte porcelain is enamelled on the biscuit. The design of lotus leaves rising from turbulent waves probably indicates that originally it was the stand for a large Buddha. It would provide a fine support for a large piece of porcelain. It is lovely Batavia style cup, the name of “Batavia” came from the capital of Indonesia where center of trade between Chinese and Dutch. This piece is unusual in that it is not from a shipwreck and in original excellent condition. Date to Qianlong period. Upper diameter is 2 ¾ inch.
