Description: A lovely persimmon glazed bowl was molded in beautiful oval shape. In perfect condition except one minor before-firing chip at the well shaped foot ring, the bowl was evenly applied with brown glaze inside and out of the bowl including the center of the foot ring. A set of four small fan shaped dishes made during the reign of the Ming Emperors Tianqi or Chongzhen decorated with the figure of an Immortal within a silkworm scroll border. Dating to the second quarter of the seventeenth century. This type of design is very similar to those used for the Japanese market, and the dish could have formed part of a set used for the serving of pickle or appetizer in the Kaiseki meal.
