Details: A finely painted and detailed example of a late 17th-18th century Qing Sino-Tibetan gilt bronze image of the historical Buddha. Buddha is seated crossed legged in padmasana (the lotus or diamond posture) with both naturalistically cast hands held in front of his chest in the turning of the dharma wheel or the teaching mudra (dharma chakra pravatana mudra). A Ming wooden statue of the Daoist God of War, seated with one foot on a turtle, for immortality,and one on a snake, for supernatural power. The back has a little cut out area for relics and a handle for holding it for display. Size: H.32cm. W. 15cm.
Condition: Most of the paint still remains, some flaking. There is a little piece missing from the right side of the ornament on his shoulder.

A delightful antique altar statue of Bodhisattva Kuan Yin. Traditional Chinese full-lotus sitting posture, hands in mudra, detailed and well-modelled drapes. End of 18th - early 19th century. Bronze, with some remaining traces of gilt.

Description: An ancient Bodhisattva head was kept in a fine condition by being preserved with original whitish coating. In a rarely-seen image of Bodhisattva who was still under enlightenment and was still in flat top, the Buddha expressed a benign mood by his well carved facial features. A small votive figure of the Fifth Dalai Lama, Nagwamg Losang Gyatso (1617–1682) carved of purple sandal wood (zitan). He holds a bowl in one hand and the other raised in the gesture of teaching. Traces of colour. Hollowed, one piece-carving. Tibet, 17–18th cent. H 11.5 cm. Condition: Generally good but w. some wear and chipping due to age. The flower branch that was attached on the right arm is missing.
