Chinese Ming dynasty Longquan celadon plate with everted foliate rim, the center decorated with a freely incised floral motif surrounded by a faintly ribbed cavetto. The vertical ribbing is repeated on the underside. 10 3/8” diameter x 1 7/8” high. The chatter marks on the glazed base are typically an indication of late Ming dynasty wares. This piece was collected from a kiln site in China, it was most likely a kiln reject because the glaze did not cover an area and it was underfired, so the glaze is a matte instead of the more typical gloss surface. Beautiful shape, no cracks or chips, would work well for tea ceremony. Beautiful sky blue color does not come through in pictures. about 4 1/2" diameter.

Rare large green glazed white stoneware bowl circa 5th or 6th CE- mostly likely from a Northern kiln. On the rim there is a shallow chip as well as one repair, 6cm length using the original pieces (last time I tried photographing this piece it rolled off the stand and got damaged- dang!), noted in enlargements. Anyway, not as good as new but well priced with a lovely stable and glaze. D: 15.7cm/6.2in and H: 8.2cm/3.2in.

Exceptionally rare and, quite possibly one of a kind Zun shaped vase. I am going to go out on a bit of limb with this piece and give it a late Tang to Five Dynasties dating (you may compare this to item #0325 which dates to the Sui, in the “sold” archives on my site). The nearest references I can find to this type of glaze are cups and alms bowls dating from the Sui to Tang Dynasties. The Zun shape has been around since the Shang Dynasty in bronze form and the earliest ceramic versio... Click for details
