An etched impression of the tree of life on a carnelian stone, India ca. 500 BC. This is most likely a gemstone for a ring, made with the same method as the ancient Indian "etched" beads. This image called tree of life is also depicted on very old punch-marked silver coins and these date back to ca. 500 BC. It is a tiny little stone only 8 mm in diameter and 3 mm high. On the back the stone has one white etched line crossing the center. Condition is very good, few tiny chips...

An earth touching N-Indian bronze Buddha from the post-Gupta period 7-9th century. Lord Buddha without head protuberance, ears with long earlobes, serene face with eyes, mouth and nose. A small line running across the torso indicates a monks robe, both nipples are visible. Buddha itself without any jewelry. Hands and feet nicely modeled. On the base I see outlines of a crouching lion just below the earth touching hand, and just to the left of it perhaps the outline of an elephant or another anim... Click for details
