Small amulet moulded in the shape of Tibetan God Kubera (or Vaisravana), seated on a lotus throne, holding a banner with his right hand and the mongoose (that spits jewels) with his left hand. Terracotta, lacquered and gilt in front and painted red at side and back. Tibet, 19th century. Height: 1 5/16" (3,3 cm). Good condition despite tiny chips in some areas. Belt hook with rectangular plate decorated with forged pierced through design of a dragon in clouds, attached to a large loop. Gilt iron. Tibet, 19th century. Length (4 5/16" (11 cm). The piece is nicely mounted on a custom wood stand that enhances its beauty. Obvious signs of use and age, some oxidization, gilding partly gone, otherwise good condition.

Vajra (or "dorje" in Tibetan language) with a central handle in the shape of a ball surrounded with two lotus decorations, and with five points grouped in four coming out of "makara" (water dragons) mouths, arranged around a pointed axis. These five points symbolize the five elements, the five Jinas and the five sorts of wisdom. Bronze, with fine dark-green patina in the recesses. The piece was cast in Tibet in the 18th century. Mask representing the face of a tiger, with small ears, protruding forehead, relief eyebrows, recessed eyes pierced through, thin nose, carved open mouth showing teeth, small chin. Wood, semi-glossy dark-brown patina with traces of reddish pigment. Himalayan Region, early 20th century, probably older. Height: 10 1/2" (24cm). The mask is mounted on a custom metal stand. Obvious signs of use and age, chip at tip of nose, age crack at left side of forehead (see photo), otherwise good condition.

This Museum Quality silvered bronze Nepalese Figure dates to the 14th century or earlier. It stands 10 1/2 inches tall by 3 inches in diameter. It has exquisite details and very subtle modeling. It is in excellent condition and retains much of it's original silver finish. A quite similar example can be seen in "Oriental Art: India, Nepal & Tibet" by Michael Ridley, 1970, Plate 37 (listed as 14th Century or earlier).

Devi Lhamo is the only female Dharmapala in the Tantric Buddhist pantheon. She is also regarded as the “protector” of the Dali Lama. This large Thangka is a very unusual depiction of Devi Lhamo not only in the artistic interpretation of her mount but also the proportionately large area she occupies on the canvas. Used in Tibetan monasteries to serve tea and perform rituals, low tables such as this one have long, pull-out drawers or boxes to hold Buddhist texts and scrolls. The front and both ends of this 19th century box-table are covered with painted foliage and flowers outlined with gesso. Wood aprons with a Tibetan design that incorporates the swastika, Buddhist symbol of law, extend the table almost to the floor on the front and sides. The Tantrayna School of Tibetan Buddhism is evident in this 19th century ceremonial headpiece of a Tibetan Lama. The five panels that form the crown are covered with cloth, painted and gilded with images of Tantric Yidams, teachers of the tantric principles of the path to enlightenment.
