An interesting and rare votive image of coloured wood depicting Naro-dakini, the consort of the Mahasiddha Naropa. She is standing on two recumben corpses (Shiva and Mahadevi) drinking from her skull-cup (kapala) while holding the vajra-chopper in the right hand. She wears the garland of skulls around her neck. Behind is a large oval mandorla with flaming edges. Tibet, 18th cent. (possible even older). H 22 X 17 cm. Condition: Good w. natural wear and a few minor chips to edges.

A small but very charming gilt bronze image of the bodhisattva Sadakshari Avalokitesvara seated in the characteristic posture. The upper pair of hands hold a rosary (mala) and a lotus flower respectively, while the lower pair of hands are joined in front of the chest in the anjali-mudra, the gesture of greeting. Face with delicately done cold gilding. Later re-closed. Tibet, 16–17th. cent. H 8,5 cm. Condition: Very good, but w. some wear to gilding.

Two Tibetan tsaklis on rice paper, circa the 19th century. The tsaklis depict the animal- and bird-headed fierce dakinis (goddesses) from the Bardo Thodol, popularly known as the Tibetan Book of the Dead. These dakinis (called "Phramenma" and "Bangtruknyernga") are encountered by a deceased person during his 49-day journey between death and rebirth, and represent the negative elements of his mind; if he faces them without fear, his spiritual liberation is near. This is a cast copper sword to a large Tibetan sculpture of the wrathful deity Begtse. Begtse is one of the Buddhist protectors and seen as the lord of War. He usually will hold a scorpion handled sword such as this in his hand. This sword is cast in two parts, the scorpion and the blade. the tip of the blade is flaming and gilt. This dates to the 18th century and measures 11 3/8 inches (29cm).
