I have owned them for more years than I care to remember and have always admired their elegant simplicity. They are cast, quite heavy; and impossible to date accurately as the design probably dates b... Click for details

This is a good size late 18th century devotional statue of the Hindu goddess Durga portrayed in the sitting position. It is a very attractive piece, with a lustrous golden patina and smooth heavy feel. Considering its color and heft, it is possible that this bronze alloy includes a small amount of gold. Durga is an incarnation of the goddess Parvati, and was manifest when evil forces threatened the existence of the gods. ... Click for details

This is a rather rare form of Krishna from Tamil Nadu in the mid 18th century, shown in a straight upright pose and holding a conch shell in his left hand. Images of Vittobha are relatively rare. Vittobha is a form of Krishna (sometimes also Vishnu) and is typically portrayed with a conical headdress and with hands on hips, as in this image. This small piece is worn smooth by many years of prayer, and has a nice sleek feel and chocolate brown patina. ... Click for details
