Japanese Hina Emperor and Empress in seated position on silk cushions and thrones in custom original box. The dolls have the early style carved wood faces and hands, covered in white gofun, and feature glass eyes. They have their original headdresses and flags are mounted behind the figures. They are in custom made wood cabinets (glass is missing). Japanese circa 1900 century KOBE toy. The mechanical toy has a kimono clad person holding a mallet in one hand and a peach in the other. When the toy's mechanism is employed, the person open it's mouth and sticks the peach inside. There is also a large peach on the cutting table in front. Japanese antique hina dolls, large musician ningyo from the 1800s. The hayashi musician dolls were added to the emperor and empress dolls (Dairi-bina), sometime in the mid to late 18th century. They were first made in Edo (today’s Tokyo) while the Zuishin, Court Guards (also known as ministrator dolls) were being created in Kyoto.
