These miniature dolls are very old measuring only 2 3/4 inches long and approximately 1/2 inch wide. They are made of clay or ceramic. There is a wire that runs through the doll holding on the arms and legs. These dolls do not have the oriental look, each doll is marked Japan on the back.

An outstanding and wonderful Japanese earthenware redware terracotta Tokoname vase 19th century. Ball form with three feet. It has in relief, a dragon among clouds motif. Elegant Satsuma covered box with shi-shi

The form of this Kozan signed box is very unusual. The cover has a finely crafted shi-shi as a finial and the bottom portion sits on four legs. There are four medallions on the cover, with two in the form of a butterfly. The condition is good, with some minor wear to the gilt work on the extremities. It dates about 1890 and measures 4" x 3" x 3.75".
