A marvelous miniature vase by Kinkozan in wonderful condition. The body has a delightful and distinctive form, both fluted and scalloped. One panel shows an aristocratic woman and her courtiers, the reverse shows a meeting of high-ranking military officers. The background is an unusual pattern of stylized bamboo latticework. This lovely koro (perhaps the most desirable of Japanese forms, with an important ceremonial function) features a fine pierced lid of jungin (pure silver) depicting a phoenix in flight, beautifully engraved. The form of this bowl is quite unusual and beautiful and the artwork is excellent. We believe the signature to read Ozan. It measures 6" x 1 5/8" and is in very good condition with almost no signs of wear and no damages. It dates about 1890.

This is a highly unusual and elegant form Satsuma vase by Kinkozan. There is a faint, but definitive impressed signature on the bottom, along with the remnants of an original Kinkozan paper label. The condition is excellent with only very slight signs of wear to the gold. It measures 7" x 4" and dates about 1900.
