Japanese antique pair of ranma decorative architectural transoms. Crafted from sugi (Japanese cedar), with elaborately carved panels. The panels feature depictions of cranes and large matsu (pine) trees. Early Showa-Period (c.1930); excellent condition. Each panel approximately 67 1/4" long by 16" tall by 2" thick.

This is a Japanese cast bronze of the Household God, Daikoku. He stands 4” high and is 2” wide by 2 ¼” deep. Excellent condition and patina. We date it to the early to mid Meiji period, circa 1870-1890. There is an incised signature on the base that translates to "Kashu Zo".

A Mingei (Japanese Folk Art) Metal Portable Lamp –Edo

A rather rare example of a Japanese portable lamp with a spur inside to hold a candle and an hooded ovoid opening in the front to insert the candle and protect it from the wind. On the back there is a metal strap that could be used to hang the lamp on a wall. We date the piece to the late Edo to early Meiji period, circa 1840-1870. Excellent patina with rust and wear – but still in usable condition. The lamp measures 9 ½” tall and is 3 ½” in diameter.

Japanese hardwood hand carved statue of a "TANUKI," or BADGER, with his left paw raised above his very expressive face and ears! This sculpture (which is very Shibui) has a wonderful solid, artsy, substantial "feel." Height is 9 inches or 23 cms. x 8.25 inches or 21 cms at the base. Condition, there are some knicks on the left sleeve and some indentations on the back which is "unfinished." Circa 1870-1900.
