Beautiful Japanese antique choba tansu (merchant's chest), made of keyaki (elm) with sugi (Japanese cedar) interior, beautiful heavy iron hardware, sliders on top, bottom with removable locking bar (bo) over two drawers, lower right side with safe box, interior of safe with two small drawers, all original deep red translucent lacquer finish, Mikuni area, late Edo Period (mid 19th century).
Size: 33 1/2" high x 36 3/4" wide x18 1/2" deep.

From early 20th century, made of Keyaki zelkova wood outside and kiri wood inside, beautiful merchan chest from Sakata area. It has impressive Tamamoku grain, the most beautiful part of Keyaki wood, and hardware wih attractive patina. It' very functional chest, having seven drawers with one money box made of Kiri wood. Beautiful Japanese antique karuma dansu (wheeled chest for storage), made of keyaki (elm) and sugi (Japanese cedar) woods with wonderful deep translucent lacquer finish, iron hardware, all original with lovely patina, top compartment all open, bottom compartment also open except for small interior box with 2 small drawers in lower right side.
Edo Period. Size: 60" high x 67" wide x 26 1/2"deep.
