Japanese 4 compartment inro depicting a tiger at a stream rendered in raised gold, bronze, copper, and black lacquers against a brightly rendered ground using nashiji technique. On the reverse side is bamboo. The inside of each section or compartment is red. The inro is in very good condition and measures 2 3/5" (6.6 cm) high x 2" (5.1 cm) wide. This box is made from Kiri wood and has a pair of bamboo-grass shaped metal clasps and indigo braids. Its exterior is decorated with gold Hiramakie of flowers, and its interior is decorated with Takamakie of bamboo and a pair of sparrows on the vermillion lacquer ground. There is a crack on the surface of the inside lacquer ground and repair marks on the outside as shown on photographs. Measurements about : 2 1/8" (5.5cm) tall, 4 3/8" (11cm) wide and 8 1/4" (20.8cm) long.

This wooden lacquer Suzuribako is in sets with Suzuri (ink stone) and silver Suiteki (water dropper). The decoration on the lid depicts a plum-blossom and cloud with Makie on the vermilion lacquer ground. The interior is decorated in gold and silver makie on the black lacquer ground depicting same motif as exteriors. The top of this black lacquer Japanese box is heavily carved with leaves and foliage. The carved oval cinnabar panel in the center depicts a long and stable marriage scene. The standing wife has just served her sitting husband tea in the garden, outside the house surrounded by mountains. The four sides of the box are carved with continuous textile design. The box is 5.5 inches x 4.75 inches and 2+ inches high.

This lacquer box is a very beautiful and delicate decorated in gold hiramaki-e with diamond,
