Wonderfully carved antique Japanese noh mask, signed on the back, "KOKUTSURU". This mask is the character 'koomote' the main actor in the noh plays, 'Kocho' and 'Funa-Benkei'. Carved out of hinoki or Japanese cypress wood and with many layers of 'gofun', a crushed oyster pigment. The expression is very expressive and the condition is excellent. c.1910. Fine casting bronze statue is in the shape of Monk and Shishi (Foo dog). Measurements about : 7 1/2 " (19 cm) wide, 4 1/2" (11.5 cm)deep and 6 7/8" (17.5 cm) tall. There are some scratches on the back and right hand as shown in the photos.

This finely skillful Okimono is carved from single piece of wood. The artist signature, Tetsuharu-saku or made by Tetsuharu, is carved on the bottom. Although we have no information about the artist. Measurements about : 12 5/8" (32cm) wide, 5 7/8" (15cm) deep and 4" (10cm) tall.

An attractively carved okinomo, depicting three sparrows on a branch, made in Japan during the Meiji period (1868-1911) for export to Europe or the U.S. Condition very good. There is one crack which runs through the centre of the branch and finishes as a hairline on the first birds head. The ivory displays the usual age yellowing - most visible on the back view. This is beautifully detailed piece is showing a fish vendor with his product falling out of a whole in the basket. It is in excellent condition, with no losses and is artist signed with an inlaid signature. It is early Taisho period; about 1920 and measures 6.25" x 2.25".

Antique Japanese early Taisho Period c.1920 vermillion red lacquered paper lantern with original electric bulb and chord. Still works. The wood frame is Japanese cypress and many layers of lacquer have been applied giving this piece an almost art deco decor. Fantastic condition.
