Standing(37cm) eleven-headed Kannon Bosatsu(Bodhisattva of Compassion) in classical dignified pose. His left hand is in the "absence of fear" (semui-in 施無畏印) mudra, and his right hand is in the "granting of wishes" (yogan-in 与願印) mudra . Wood base, original lacquer and gilt. Measurements: 12 1/4" (31cm) tall, 7 7/8" (20cm) wide and 4 5/8" (11.6cm) deep. It was carved with Hinoki (japanese cypress). Sinzo was made from sacred tree. Due to its great age there are aged-wormholes and damage.

According to Buddhist cosmology, Byodo-ou holds judgement on the 100th day after funeral and represent Kannon Bosatsu This sculpture is made of wood with lacquer and polychrome paint by “Yozeki Zukuri”(Joined-block Technique). The name of the diety is inscribed on the bottom. Considering age, this item is in very good condition(minor abrasions/paint loss). Size: H.39cm, W.31cm, D.26cm.
