Rare image of Henjyou-ou(“One of the Juo”; “Ten Judges of Hell”). According to Buddhist cosmology, Henjyou-ou holds judgement on the 42nd day after a funeral, and represent Miroku Bosatsu. This sculpture is made of wood with lacquer and polychrome paint by “Yozeki Zukuri”(Joined-block Technique). The name of the diety is inscribed on the bottom. Considering age, this item is in very good condition(minor abrasions/paint loss). Dimensions:H.39cm, W.31cm, D.26cm.
