The mule has been left raw white earth with fittings decorated in enamel, the blissful figure on its back wearing a glazed robe with shippo-pattern and wide brimmed tetsu-yu hat. Both pieces are stamped Makuzu, and come enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Together they are 10 inches (25 cm) tall, 8 inches (21 cm) long and in excellent condition. A powerfully modeled Oribe stoneware tray with openwork sides, early 19th century. The interior sides and center bear the impression of a coarse textile. A copper green wash shading to red in areas and underglaze iron brown tama or jewel in the center cover the irregular impressed textile pattern. Measurements re 6.1cm H X 17.1cm X 18.1cm or 2 1/2 X 6 3/4 X 7 inches. There are two large chips to the corners. Fitted old wood storage box.

The size of Tokkuri: 10 3/8" High x 6 1/8" Dia. It is great looking large Japanese Bizen Yaki Haritsuke Ningyo Tokkuri with Hotei Design. Ningyo is Japanese for doll which this case Hotei figure was applied on to the vase. It is signed by artist on the bottom. The expression feature of Hotei is wonderful. The workmenship of Tokkuri is superb with the form and line works and Hotei. The three sides indentation is done in purpose. The condition of Tokkuri is excellent, no chip, no crack and no hair... This Oni-Hagi Chawan was made by Yamato Shoroku. The potter's mark on the bottom. Between end of 19th century and early 20th century. Oni-Hagi, that type of Hagi-yaki, is wild and have strong impression, one factor due to coarse-grained clay. Shoroku Kiln was developed by 1st Yamato Shoroku in 1895. Measurements : 3 1/8" (8cm) tall and 5 5/8" (14.4cm) in diameter. It is in good condition and comes with original wooden box.
