$250.00

Beautiful Japanese shallow pottery bowl done in the Korean manner. Could be any of the folk potteries such as Kuratsu or Seto from the looks of the glaze and the style of the foot. Finely crackled tan glaze with iron oxide underglaze decoration around the rim. The bowl measures 9 1/4" in diameter and is 2 1/8" deep. Excellent condition with only normal signs of wear. I believe this one dates from the early 1800's - late Edo period - but it is possible that it is from the Meiji timeframe.

$495.00

A wonderful late Edo Period Seto ware Mingei dish in the classic "Horse's Eye" pattern - shown in all the books on Japanese pottery, ca. 1800. This beauty measures 10 1/4" in diameter and is 2 1/4" deep. As is usually the case, there is a nick on the rim - see photo - but that does not detract from the simple beauty of the design. Multiple spur marks on the inside of the bowl indicate the dish was glazed and then placed in the kiln upside down to fire it. Fine addition to a collection of early J... Click for details

This piece has been vetted by the world authority on Kenzan - copy of documentation provided with the dish. The dish measures 9 1/2" long x 4" wide x 3/4" high - outside dimensions. $295.00

A fine old Seto pottery sueteki - water dropper - shaped in the form of Daikoko, that most popular of the Seven Household Gods. A web of gold repair lines marks the place where some previous owner who treasured the piece had it put back together when it cracked. Tiny buff colored crackle glaze over pottery. Late Edo period for sure. The sueteki measures 3 1/8" tall by 4" wide by 2 3/8" deep.
