The size of Plate: 5 5/8" Dia x 3/4" High. Beautiful Japanese Old Bizen Plate. It is made wonderfully detail relief work of Botan (peony) design. The wokmenship is superb with relief work of peony as well as the mesh work background. The condition of plate is excellent, no chip, no crack and no hairline. A couple of Hittsuki at the backside edge from kiln. Dating from Edo Kouki(late Edo). 1800-1850.

A sizable Bizen double gourd vase signature is with two applied handles and numerous yellow spots of the natural ash glaze used when firing Bizen. The base carries the signature of TOZAN. It measures 10” high and is 5” diameter at the largest part of the lower waist. We estimate it dates to the late 19th to early 20th century, Condition is excellent. Antique Japanese Meiji Period c.1900 Shigaraki shochu wine jar used for transporting shochu rice wine to the ancient capital of Kyoto. Shigaraki was one of the most famed kiln centers outside of Kyoto, known for their distinctive glazes, tea utensils and stoneware. The blue and green alternating striped overglazes were a trademark Shigaraki look. Crackled glaze. Perfect condition. c.1900. (21" x 12") (53cm x 30cm).
