Japanese Kutani tea set. Meiji Period, 1867 - 1910. Wiseman scene on one side and floral design on the other side. Rare to find a full set. Good condition. One tea cup has a ace crack inside and a small chip on one of the teacup handles, underneath handle. Please email for more pictures if needed. Dimensions: Teapot, 6-1/2 inches high by 7-1/2 inches wide; tea cup, 2-1/4 inches high by 4 inches wide; saucer, 5-1/4 inches round.

A beautiful and unusual nioi or ryoi a ritual staff used by the abbot at monasteries to emphasize a point during lectures, as well as other purposes. This is the only one I have seen with a frog on it, the entire staff is one large bean pod with frog on it. Almost 15" long, beautiful patina and wear from age and use. Late Edo circa 1800 to 1850. Wood.

Japanese Satsuma tea set of teapot, sugar, creamer and 10 cups with saucers. The entire set is finely detailed with Samurai warriors, banner carriers, and men carrying a cart with a royal personage or official. The colors of the pieces are oranges, greens, aubergine, blue, browns and reds along with gilt. A Japanese chawan with a granular tannish glaze over a darker tan clay – decorated with three yellow water lily buds with green leaves. There is a circular stacking ring in the bottom of the bowl – caused in the kiln when several pieces are stacked one of top of the other prior to firing. The base of the chawan is unglazed. The piece measures 5 ½” diameter and is 2 ½” high – it dates from the mid to late Meiji period, circa 1880-1900 and is in excellent condition. Not signed.

Beautiful antique Japanese tetsubin, or cast iron teapot. This stunning piece dates to the Meiji period (late 1800's) and features a silver handle and subtle relief of Kiri and Chrysanthemum.
