This is an asa "nobori" where figures of samurai and a horse are hand painted. Nobori is a kind of a banner which has been post on "Tango-no-sekku, Boy's Festival on May 5 wishing for a boy's healthy growth since Edo era. "Koi-nobori ( carp nobori )" is more common these days. This is a Kurume kasuri futon cover which is hand woven and dyed with natural indigo. Kurume region in Fukuoka prefecture has been a producing center of "Kurumegasuri" since ca. 1800, late Edo era. This is a happi with nice "ishi-datami" pattern which is katazome ( stencil-resist-dyeing )and dyed with natural indigo. It is made of hand spun and hand woven cotton fabric. Ishi-datami means "stone flooring or pavement" and it is a traditional pattern in Japan. It has many light brown stains all over and several mending patches.
