This ranma pair has extremely high relief carving dating them Meiji or early Taisho. One panel has an eagle on pine and the other panel has more pine as well as bamboo. Besides the depth of the carving, another unusual feature is the quarter-sawn cedar,and the way the figure of the grain plays with the carving.
