This pulley came from Japan, and my guess it
was made there. A wooden wheel with hand forged iron hanging construction. The metal is rusty otherwise in good condition. The wooden pulley is worn and cracked however for its age, condition is good. The wooden pulley is 11" in diameter, the U metal piece is 9" long and the metal pin that runs
through the pulley is 5". The top pin is 6 1/2". The total height is approximately 21"
and the weight is 7 pounds. This is a very nice old pulley

A japanese fan or face screen handle / holder made from a strongly grained wood and decorated in gold lacquer and shibayama (Inlaid stones and mother of pearl). Dating from the mid C19th., it measures 6 inches long.It would originally held a fixed, single fan leaf which would fit in the slot shown in photo. There is some wear to the gold lacquer but it is in otherwise good condition.

Hand-crafted from durable and finely grained keyaki wood, it dates from the mid-to late 19th century. The bronze handle is engraved with a Noh mask. Generally the more fancifully carved and decorated sumi-tsubo, such as this example, were the type used by the most skilled carpenters or architects. The partially visible wheel held a line of twisted... Click for details
