This lacquered rosewood game counter or marker has ivory tabs with inlaid with mother-of-pearl insects and birds. Meiji period (1868-1912). The counter comes in its original kiri wood storage box. The wood body of the counter is decorated with a floral design painted in gold makie lacquer, and the pin-hinged game tabs of fine old ivory have Shibayama inlay. The size of Nestuke: 1 7/8" Long x 1 1/4" Wide x 1 1/4" High. Nicely carved Japanese Wooden Nestsueke in the shape of Foo Dog(Koma-Inu). It is rather rounded piece which shape like Daruma from the face and roundness. Material is Rosewood. The photo does not show the nice color and quality of Netsuke. Actual Netsuke is nicer. It is from end of Meiji. Not signed.
