This incredible late 19th century natural-shaped wood smoker’s hibachi or tabako-bon was skillfully crafted from the trunk of a tree in a very unusual and imaginative style. Although we do not know the particular type of hardwood that was used, it is extremely heavy and deeply grained with a rich dark patina. An excellent bamboo flower vase finely carved in high relief and inlaid with ivory, stagshorn and dark wood with a continuous scene depicting five Sennin and a dragon in an enchanted forest. The detail of the carving is remarkable and the figures very lively. There are two seals with archaic script carved on square ivory plaques and located near the foot.

The size of Inro; 3 1/8" Wide x 2" Long x 3/4" Thick, It is beautifully carved Two case Japanese Antique Inro with nice Manju and silver Ojime. The Inro is made by wooden body with red lacquer inside. Inro was used for red ink for the top case and lower case as sumi ink as original ink cottom still inside. The size of Wooden Box : 5 3/4" L x 4 1/2" W x 2 1/8" H. Very unusual Japanese Wooden Carved Box. The box is very fine carving design of Hasu(lotus) design on five sides which is in Rinpa school style. It is fasinating workmenship.
