Interest in Choson ceramics began in the 15c in Japan, and by the latter part of the 16c the tea bowls known as “Koryo” or “Korai chawan” saw frequent use in tea ceremony. A Rare Blue and White Ten Faceted Water Dropper: Choson Dynasty, 18th Century This is a rare and finely painted in underglaze blue with orchids on the top. This bright underglaze blue is a typical fine cobalt blue hue in 18th century, the base is glazed with sands from firing. It has a water spout restored, otherwise good condition. It measures 2 1/2” d. x 1 3/4” h.
