All Original and Unrestored 19th Century Korean Ichung-nong (Korean Two Unit Stacked Chest) from South Cholla Province. This fine example of an elegant clothing chest is made of elm for the front panels, paulownia for the sides, and pear wood for the frame. It is exquisitely decorated with brass butterfly motifs for the locks and hinges, and brass bat motifs for the drawer pulls. All Original and Unrestored Tall 19th Century Ichung-nong (Korean Two Unit Stacked Chest) from Kesong (Koryo Dynasty capital). This elegant clothing chest is made entirely of hodo namu (Korean Walnut), making it a rare and valuable piece. It is exquisitely decorated with a variety of unique and rarely seen white brass flora and fruit motifs. This gorgeous, all original and unrestored Korean Seven Butterfly Chest is an early piece (middle 19th Century) made from a luscious persimmon wood that has aged to a warm rich hue that is truly a delight to behold. It is a beautiful effect that could never be even closely duplicated with new wood.
