This gorgeous all original and unrestored Ichung-jang (Korean Two Level Chest) is a rare early piece (middle 19th Century) made from a gorgeous dragon burl wood that has aged to a deep rich hue that is a delight to behold. It is a beautiful effect that could never be even closely duplicated with new wood. The lovely brass butterflies that adorn this beautiful piece are an ancient symbol of happiness in Korea. 53.5 x 40 x 18.5 inches, 136 x 102 x 47 cm. Excellent Condition.

DESCRIPTION: Because Koreans so highly valued nature and natural materials, their chests were constructed so that the wood itself was the most beautiful aspect of the piece.
