An unusual long Pyu carnelian bead necklace with a Pyu agate bird.The bird has two holes for stringing, one through the sides of the head and one through the length of the body, head to tail. The beads a very slender and long which makes them very different then most carnelian beads from that era. They were hand drilled from both ends to meet in the center. See first and last photos. A nice striped agate bead necklace sometimes confused with "puntek beads" which are originally from India and are made from opalized wood. These beads were probably also from India and were very broadly used during the Pyu period in Burma. Many reproductions of these beads are made today but are easily detected because the lack the luster of the real ones. Most of the beads are actually white in color and are striped with the black lines. Size: L 46cm.

A nicely carved Pyu green micro elephant. It is unusual to find a fluorite carving this small being a fragile and soft stone. Condition: No repairs. It looks like in drilling the hole a small piece of one of the tusks was lost but still a nice piece.

This ancient conch shell bead from the Pyu period and dates back to around the first century. It represents the emblem of the voice of Buddha preaching the laws of his doctrine, and occurs as one of the auspicious signs on the "Footprint of Buddha". Size: L. 2.2cm. Condition: No repairs. In the enlarged photos you will see the natural faults of the stone but is not very noticeable with the naked eye.
