Late 19th century Persian glass hookah bottle decorated on 2 sides with identical portrait of a man wearing military uniform enclosed within painted vignettes. Beautiful blue glass full of internal bubbles - the piece was blown, not molded. The portrait is probably that of the Shah of Iran. Decoration on the bottle looks newer than the bottle itself, the faces seem to be some sort of transfer. Vignettes are painted with actual gold, white, orange and lemony green. The lid has some designs and also two small cracks where the metal was beaten too thin (see pix #3) The bowl is from a much heavier, thicker stock and has a beautiful patina. The diameter is 5.75 inches or 14.6 cms. and the height is 2.25 inches or 5.7 cms. Circa: 1900-1920
