Carnelian. Persian intaglio. Late Safavid period. c. 1850. 18.5 x 14 mm. Rectangular gem. Inscription in Farsi: La illah ha il allah al malik al hagih-Rohzad. "There is only one God, the king, the blessed - Rohzad (name of the owner of the gem)." Some original inking present on the gem face.

Kabkabs made of hardwood, inlaid with metallic wire and squares of mother-of-pearl (fixed with brass pins). The strap made of red velvet embroidered with padded silver thread and some sequins, depicting a flower. Pattens of this type were worn indoors, around the garden or on visits to the hammam by Ottoman city ladies. Condition: Velvet strap faded, worn and fixed with recent spikes, missing sequins, some wear. Dimension: Length 22.6 cm. Weight: 700 gram.

Small vase of pear shape with a slightly protruding base. Blackened iron, silver inlaid arabic calligraphy with interlacing floral and geometric decor all over its body. Middle East, early 19th century, maybe earlier. Height: 4 1/4" (11 cm). Inside slightly oxidized, otherwise very good condition. Ex. old French collection.

An Armenian tinned copper votive dish with a wide flaring rim and flat base, inscribed with a six-pointed star and a border of fishes, the reverse with an inscription in clumsy majuscules (probably the name of the donor). Diameter: 12 7/8 in. 18/19th cent.

Simple, but quite attractive bronze round hoop armlet with pointed terminals. Central European in what is called the St. Polton Style, Late Bronze Age, ca. 800 B.C. A large 3-3/4"W, worn around the biceps, in near-choice condition with deep smooth green patina. Purportedly found in Austria.
